Ancestra East painting by Ana Rugani 19.5"x50"

painting & collage

Painting & collage are my gentle art forms.  I paint more in winter and use it as a creative release when motivation to get out heavy tools is lacking.  Nature, humanity and symbolism persist in motif, however, I also enjoy making abstract work where balance and harmony of line and form are the focus.  A new passion in crafting my own pigments and paint from foraged mineral and organic matter has pushed my paintings in new and exciting directions. Summer Heritage Quilt by Ana Rugani 41.5"x22.5"

fiber art

My fascination with fabric started at a young age when I was inspired to make my own clothes. My mom and grandma taught me how to use a sewing machine.  Since then, I've incorporated textiles into sculptures, installation art, and utilitarian items.  Fabric has a tactile quality that continues to draw me into its folds. Roots Divided By Ana Rugani Fine Art Print 20 inches by 26 inches

drawings & designs

My drawings and designs are characterized by clean lines and flowing forms. Pen and ink, marker, crayon and pencil capture an outpouring of creativity on paper. Pushing the process further, I photograph my drawings, pull them into the digital realm and experiment.  Moving creatively from analog to digital and back again is satisfying.   Check out a selection of drawings and designs by clicking on the image.

Silma by Ana Rugani a mixed media wall sculpture 44.5 inches by 21.5 inches by .5 inches

sculpture

Currently, my focus is wood carving, nature as medium, and goddess symbology throughout the ages.  Exploring, mixing materials together, and finding harmony push my process along.  Bone, feather, glass, metal, moss, stone, crystal, wood and leather are some of the elements you can find in my work.  Click on the image to explore more sculptures.
